Representative Sue Schmitz was elected to the Alabama House of Representatives for District 6 (Madison) in 1998. She received her B.A. in English and Political Science from the University of Alabama. She and her husband, John, are the parents of three children: Davis, Jonathan, and Matthew. Representative Schmitz is a classroom teacher and co-owner of a hardware and general merchandise store. She is a member of the First United Methodist Church of Huntsville, Delta Kappa Gamma, and the Optimist Club. Representative Schmitz also sponsors Students Against Drinking and Driving, the Close Up Foundation, and serves as Coach and Advisor for the 'WE THE PEOPLE PROGRAM'.
